Identity in motion

Stars. Matter. Letterform.

01Spark

SVG

An idea begins within the mark. Two stars emerge from the cutout in the letter ‘k’ — a small gesture that starts a room’s transformation.

02Matter

SVG

The blue semicircle becomes a body of paint. Its surface yields, lifts the stars and slowly settles — fluid matter regains the precision of the mark.

03Gesture

SVG

Two stars follow a single gesture, like the tips of a brush. A quick outward stroke and a measured return play out over a constant blue field.

04Coat

SVG

One continuous pass reveals the white letters. Reaching ‘k’ releases the stars. The rhythm of applying a coat replaces separate animation of each letter.

05Tension

SVG

The wordmark gathers tension around ‘k’. The release of the stars sends a brief impulse through neighbouring letters before the precise typographic rhythm returns.

06Detail

SVG

A close-up draws attention to the star cut into ‘k’. Two more emerge from that detail, and the pullback reveals the logic of the complete composition.

Why this movement?

Dekoral offers paints, enamels and inspiration for transforming interiors. Two stars continue the direction of the cutout in ‘k’, while the blue semicircle suggests fluid matter. The first three studies explore an idea, the behaviour of paint and a painter’s gesture. Three further studies explore applying a coat, tension within typography and the relationship of detail to the whole. Every sequence retains one blue and returns to the original composition.

These studies use the existing vector reconstruction of the mark in the Grafis Projekt archive. They are independent motion interpretations, not a record of the original design brief or animations of the brand’s current logo.

Corporate Design

Polifarb Cieszyn–Wrocław SA decided to promote its key retail products under a new shared brand.

Grafis Projekt was commissioned to propose a name and define the brand’s visual characteristics in relation to its market. The name and logo selected were “Dekoral”.

A graphic standard set out the use of the logo and colours. A family of packaging was designed, with over 100 designs prepared for production over four years. Several series of promotional print, point-of-sale materials and press advertisements were developed alongside it. Merchandising standards were also prepared for the sales network.

The original account records that Dekoral quickly became the most recognisable paint and varnish brand.
